It’s not often that I write about Doctors here on Part Time Wizards, but there’s a first time for everything. Enter Love Ssega, a young PHD graduate from Cambridge – in Chemical Engineering no less – with whom you might actually be subconsciously familiar, as he founded Clean Bandit but left soon after to finish his studies.
Born to Ugandan parents in the South London borough of Lewisham, he grew up on grime, garage and bass music, only to later draw influence from a wider spectrum of sounds. Something which is quite clearly apparent is his funky, new wave, hip hop infused gems.
His debut release “Pray For Love” garnered some quite considerable attention, and rightly so. The catchy tropical jam has been followed up by “Pray For Love”, a smooth and sultry disco ballad, which will have you grooving out under a mirrored ball in no time.
Love Ssega is onto great things, whether than be in music or in his field of Chemical Engineering. My money’s on the music though.
